Mid-century estate with panoramic views

Mid-century estate with panoramic views

Originally designed and built by an architect for his own use, the house underwent extensive refurbishment in 2020 under the supervision of a renowned architect. The aim was not to alter its original character, but to enhance it with contemporary technology, high-quality materials and precision craftsmanship. Today, the property combines the timeless design language of mid-century modernism with high-quality materials, modern building services and an exceptional quality of living. Generous glazing, unobstructed views and seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces make light and the landscape an integral part of daily life. The result is a home that uniquely combines architectural clarity, living comfort and its exceptional location overlooking the vineyards.

Key Data

The upper floor, with its open-plan living and dining area, forms the heart of the home. Large windows frame the landscape like living pictures, creating a seamless transition between architecture and nature.

A defining design feature is the chimney flue clad in polygonal natural stone, which links the indoor and outdoor fireplaces to form a continuous architectural element. The cantilevered, folded-frame staircase in solid oak resembles a sculpture and emphasises the house’s clean, high-quality design.

The lower floor features a separate guest bedroom with its own en-suite bathroom, enabling flexible living arrangements for family, guests or modern home working. An air-conditioned wine cellar complements the space and harmoniously reflects the property’s location in the heart of the Hessische Bergstraße wine region.

The park-like garden is also an integral part of the overall architectural composition. Mature planting, spacious terraces and carefully designed retreats create a special atmosphere at any time of day.

An exceptional highlight is the lounge deck, which has become almost cave-like as it has grown into the surrounding landscape, enclosed by a wisteria that has flourished over decades. Together with the sundowner deck and the varied sightlines, this creates an atmosphere in which architecture, nature and privacy blend together in a unique way.
